Shinji Amano

Independent Board Director

In 1997, Shinji became President and Representative Director of the Amano Group, a conglomerate founded by his family in 1899. The company operates a complex of businesses, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and photo printing, primarily in the Chubu area, the geographical center of Japan. Amano Group’s corporate philosophy “amano way” is to support beauty and vitality, and help local people live happily. Shinji is a licensed Pharmacist and is actively involved in advancing solutions for Japan’s aging population.

In 1997, Shinji founded "Kochu no Kai," a group dedicated to applying the enduring management philosophy of Konosuke Matsushita, founder of Panasonic Corporation. This association trains young executives of 170 companies as a platform for human resource development and job creation in the region. He also serves as an Independent Board Director for CHART Rehab, a Hawaii-based provider of physical and occupational therapy services.
